Powder coating example -

I have a local powder coater and I have used them in the past for bmw r100 rims and such. They do a great job in terms of precision of placement of the yes and no areas, they have thousands of color options, and I feel that the result is worth their costing. This is the type of shop that normally does custom auto work, so bling is important to them- their showroom is full of coils, headers, metal frame parts, all with metallic flake hotness. Initially, I wanted gloss and metal flake, but its 1.5x the normal cost of basic colors, so I opted to choose from the cheaper set of 100 chips. I wanted a deep blue, almost purple, and that is what i got. Name of color is Stanton Blue. https://www.prismaticpowders.com/shop/powder-coating-colors/PSB-2004/stanton-blue

Cost was 1k, for many pieces.

There is a slight orange peel effect on the surface…

I don’t have panels for this project yet. I didn’t consider filler.

If the parts fit, I’d say powder coat them.

1976 Jet 200, Dismantling, Frame Straighten and Refurbishment;

My Jet 200, which I have had for 25 years had an unfortunate run-in with a large, stout fence post and I think lost that battle. As a result the Lammie is getting a complete refurbishment but will first require some frame straightening.

Questions:

  1. How does the leg shield come off the frame tube? All the small screws and nuts holding the leg shield to the frame crossmembers have been removed but it will not let go. Seemingly a fastener behind the Servetta badge. Is there a bolt behind the badge and how does the badge come off?

  2. Can the forks be straightened or are new forks advisable? What experience is there with this?

  3. The tube frame is slightly bent. Around 3cm. (1 inch) is my guess. Where do I find complete dimensioned frame blueprints? I found the Series III frame blueprint on this site but it does not give…

Keeping original paint

  • patina

  • original paint

By Andrew Hinkle, February 1, 2017 in Body work and painting info Andrew Hinkle Posted February 1, 2017

Hi guys, I'm new to LCUSA and I just purchased my first two lambrettas. I've been into V3$p@s for awhile and small motorcycles since I was a kid. I enjoy the patina look and I just got ahold of a pair of survivors that are all in original paint and i was wondering what the best way to go about preserving it might be? There's quite a bit of surface rust on the li125. That side panel is more rusty than the one on the other side which is a nice blue color. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks! How to remove Farmer Paint

How to remove Farmer paint, preserve o.g. paint? Stu aka S.Hanson #17 Posted March 8, 2017

Anyone have a trick for this? Getting spray paint off original paint , while not ruining original paint? Here's an example of what I'm dealing with: Stu aka S.Hanson #17 Posted March 8, 2017

Shoot. Nevermind. I did a search and found Looks like graffiti remover or jasco paint and epoxy remover and 3m abrasive pads. Barfly Posted March 8, 2017

Looks like there might not be a lot of original paint left around the lock? Stu aka S.Hanson #17 Posted March 9, 2017

The blue is the non og paint. It is speckled with rust pock marks but no big deal. Should turn out great Andrew ITA Posted March 9, 2017

I wouldn't use chemicals if you want to preserve the paint underneath. I think sanding it is your best bet, I'd start with 1000,checking frequently. Or coarser grit if you feel brave. It…
