Drive side bearing - Halite washer

1963 Li150 - Riverside.

Howdy all. New member here, so I have a little problem navigating the search functions. I have a question regarding the halite washer. My drive side bearing came with 2 seals. I removed the one seal on the sprocket side behind the dished washer so that it could lubricated by transmission fluid.

With the other side of the bearing that nestles (cuddles?) up to the retainer plate, I SEEM to recall that I could leave that bearing seal in INSTEAD of the halite washer? Your advice here is most appreciated.

Viton seals for crank, are in place.

Thanks and cheers,

Deno

I think you could go either way and I’m sure there are varying opinions on this but FWIW, I once used a sealed bearing on one side and included the halite washer to keep the same tolerance for the retaining plate. Since then, I always use unsealed bearings on rebuilds as to not have this mental debate.
