FUEL ECONOMY / MPG
Hey folks, I did a quick search and did not spot any thread on the topic of FUEL ECONOMY or MPG.
I am curious what kind of fuel economy you folks are getting. Please post your motor type, carb size and how you accuratly determin your miles ridden and gallons used.
For me, I have a 200cc, and a 30mm Dellorto. I have calculated my miles by riding the same exact route to and from work. I used Google and my car to verify the milage. (I dont trust my Lammy's speedo).
At the start of each day I fill my tank to a set point. I then ride to work and back. Once home I fill the tank back up. I have a fuel can of premixed fuel. I use a mason jar which holds 24 fluid oz. (I double checked this by using a cooking measuring cup to fill the jar). I then add fuel back into my tank 24 oz at a time. I keep track of the total amount needed to fill my tank up to the fill line.
I then divide the total miles ridden by the total gallons used to get my miles / gallon MPG.
As an exampl, this week I rode a total of 40.5 miles a used 120 floz (or .9375 gallons) I divided 40.5 by .9375 to get an mpg of 43.2 mpg. On avg I've been getting about 42 mpg.
Please let me know your techiques and MPG. I'd love to know. Thanks, Rog.

I just gave one of these to a friend who rides in fairly remote areas of southern Colorado - decent size and built well.
