Front wheel assembly question
I am dry fitting my powder coated front hubs together and I have a question about mating surfaces.
Because the powder coaters went slightly overboard and put a layer of paint on both halves of the areas in which the two meet up, the hubs now are sticky in rotation. On the wheel half, the W shaped channel has powder coat in it, that could be a problem. On the brake and speedo half, I have sanded of the perimeter to bare metal in hopes of smoother spinning.
What I am not aware of is what keeps these two halves from rubbing against each other,? Its been 10 years since I have had the pleasure of assembling them from scratch and I am looking at the exploded diagrams and scratching my head. Series 3 1976 Jet200, drum not disc. What rides on what- im hoping for spacers and bearings as the answer. That would allow the two halves to be close, but not touching.
I've watched videos of the assembly process, but its still confusing to me.
thanks-
