Noob here, doing my first rebuild, is this Jet 200 case hosed? Are these just from casting? Can/should I have it welded? Put it back together and ride it? They don’t go through to the other side but I can catch my fingernail on them. Thanks
It is possible they are byproducts of casting, if these cases are sand casted and the pattern has cracks, then it would show up as cracks that go below the surface, if they are die casted, then the dies can crack over time and the “crack” in the case will sit proud of the surface. It can be difficult to ascertain which direction they go by catching of the fingernail. I would take a closer look at the cracks.
