Why freezing your crankshaft is a bad idea and other things we make up as we go along....
Bearing race put up a good fight until the end


This bearing race had basically rusted it's self to the crankshaft. The bond was so tight it broke my race pulling tool. The only thing that could have caused rust was the crank had spent some time in the freezer and when the race was installed moisture was introduced between the two surfaces. I had to grind the race until it warmed up enough to knock it off.
When I install races I just use a little cam lube and knock it home with the correct tool. Takes about a min.


You froze the crank for install. When it warmed it sucked in moisture. Is it possible to do this same thing, install the crankshaft, but then, once installed, heat the entire assymbly to evaporate the moisture? -OR- Heat the aluminum housing and leave the crankshaft & bearing at room temp? Is there a suggested way to tackel this project for next time? Thanks for your insight and sharing the restults. Better luck next go around.🍻
