Gear Shift

I recently did some work to my motor- top end and crankshaft only (I did not touch the gearbox or clutch). The motor was removed and re-installed. Occasionally while shifting I will need to slow let off the clutch a little and kind of massage the shifter into to forth gear/ sometimes third. I can’t remember if the bike was always like this, or maybe I need to adjust my cables? Its not a big deal, I was more just curious if this was normal or what causes it?

Yes, cables. Try adjusting first. My guess is a cable outer has fallen out of the housing at the top, in the head set.
