With the cylinder head temp sensor ring under the spark plug any idea what the definitive head temp should be? I have seen the Rotax air cooled engine guide says between 180c (356f) and 220c (428f). From that I would think at WOT under or around 400 is ok? Please correct me if I'm wrong👍

I don't have Lambretta specific experience, just air cooled VW. Since Lambrettas are famously under-cooled, I'd be nervous about recommending specific temperatures. The Brits are tuning mad so you could check out the LCGB site -- bearing in mind that the air is generally quite a bit cooler and moister over there.

As a tuner I want the most power I can get reliability. I Target 350F and use 425F as my absolute maximum (only momentarily). Ideally, when testing a scooter it will cruise around town at 250F and 400F all out . These days I am very thankful for a wide selection of ignitions that offer an ignition curve so motorcycle ignition no longer need to be modified to help with the heat issues that air-cooled Lambrettas have.
I periodically have an ear behind the legshield listening of evidence of detonation. Detonation with cause your temperatures to raise quickly above 400...This topic is very interesting to me because there are so many factors that create this heat.

And I pay attention especially when you come to a stop or dramatically drop speed after a WOT run. This is when your heat spikes because you loose the air flow cooling and will be in danger of seizing. If the temp gets too high, get on the throttle in neutral and get the fan working.

Rayspeed quoted me 220C max, 200C to be safe for their RB kits.
