LCUSA member and Volunteer info (Vice President)

For those who have never met me (and for some that have briefly) and believe everything they hear, I've decided to provided an update on what I've provided as a volunteer with LCUSA over the years. - Julie, elected VP of LCUSA (volunteer);

  1. Volunteered for LCUSA (a social club) going on 15 years (1000’s of hours);

  2. Always help behind the scenes - email shops, clubs, etc. to inform them about club events, give suggestions and help with venue and activity selections, et al;

  3. LJ - Contact shops and others with donation request letter, info, thank you letters; Compose and send out hundreds of donation request letters for every LJ since 2011; ensure arrival of donations by picking up donations on own time and/or contacting donors as needed;

  4. Attended multiple LJ in the past ($$$$ thousands of dollars and time commitment) and will continue to attend in the future when able;

  5. At attended LJ’s- organize, and  help registration, store, raffle tickets booth as volunteer all weekend - miss out on rides, meet ups, raffle, etc.

  6. Put together 100’s of rally bags with donated items and compile raffle prize donations and transport them to LJ’s (1000’s of driving miles, hours, and $$$);

  7. Saved the club thousands of dollars by providing donated items, venues and activities; and provided free added value to bags, event, and raffle;

  8. Promote the event and club locally, and at every out of town rally I attend; Bring and set up LCUSA booth and hand out info, as well as sell LCUSA merch to promote club and activities;

  9. Co-Host Lambretta Day Ride event in my local area, promote and encourage riders to attend;

  10. Host monthly meet ups in my local area for community and members;

  11. Actively encourage new riders/ members by helping to find, buy, restore and wrench on scooters and eventually to ride and participate in LCUSA hosted events;

  12. Monthly LCUSA Gazette writer and editor;

  13. Ask for and received original art work donation by a member for club marketing -tshirt available in club store;

  14. Organized and co-hosted one of the largest and successful west coast Lambretta Jamboree's by raising thousands of dollars for the club; solicited donations for event, bags and raffle; original art show and venues arranged and donated; vendor fair arranged; free food and beverages provided; event host, registration and raffle booth volunteer all weekend;

  15. Continually encourage members and promote LCUSA on social media;

  16. Never harmed the club nor impeded any LCUSA hosted event; have kept all commitments as volunteered;

  17. Attendance at club events is not mandatory as a Volunteer - In the 4 years during tenure as VP, there is 1 west coast, 2 mid-west, and 1 east coast Lambretta Jamboree  (I live in Portland, OR and work full-time with a full family and social life); I've attended 7 Jamborees so far as time and life allows;

  18. Bullied and harassed in person, and via emails, surveys, and on social media since becoming VP. It was mentioned to me by several LCUSA past and present officers and members that they wanted to encourage more women to be present in the club. Feeling supported, I ran for Vice President thinking that LCUSA is a national club (not just Mid-west or east coast), as there are over 400 members. There are MANY sides that aren't as visible and are worth the time and effort to investigate, especially personally, before jumping to untruthful conclusions and assumptions. I feel sorry for any new members who attended the "members" meeting at the Lambretta Jamboree. Not all of us are that judgemental or intolerant. If anyone would like to be a volunteer with LCUSA, please feel free to contact or email us at info@lambrettaclubusa.net. - Julie

Whomever you are, of course I supported the Jamboree! I write the Gazette, I solicited donations, such as was donated, including items for bags and the museum tickets. I was on the first organizing calls, making suggestions and finding venues. I was treated rudely. Whenever a donation was offered I made sure that it was mailed to the local host. I sent out emails to all the shops and clubs announcing the event. But it was never confirmed that any was received. I'm in on almost all the call meetings, whether LJ or others, when I can. Why wouldn't I help make it successful, just like All the others I've helped with. Nothing to report as VP, as you all see the Gazette monthly. I also was busy with the Lambretta Day Ride and life events. Raffle prizes are always purchased to ensure prizes for our members.
